Welcome folks to another " how to " video, today I show the simpler way to open and gain access to the movement on a Omega Cosmic 2000. I want to open up my vintage seamaster to have a proper look at the movement but want to be sure I don't damage the case/bezel or the crystal itself (crystal is original with omega stamp in the middle). The movement is accessed through the dial side- I'd say leave that to a watchmaker, as the crown with the split stem need to be removed first, and then a special pump has to be used in order to increase the pressure, so that the crystal pops out. A crystal lift can be used as well, although it tends to leave marks on the crystal. You need a case knife. its a thin blade on a handle that fits between the back and case --in the area of that flat spot-- and you can pop the back off.
My method is to hold the watch head in my left hand (remove straps spring bars). I hold the tool in my right, handle away from me to give a more secure grip. Line up the three prongs in the slots, press together and gently try to loosen the case.
