The rotor is not disconnecting from the winding mechanism, it's a common issue . I've had a watch with a screw-down crown for over 20 years so I know how to treat . No expert, but it sounds like, after 20 years, the threads on the crown and/or the crown tube are worn enough that they don't mate tightly anymore. I've had a watch with a screw-down crown for over 20 years so I know how to treat them but 2 weeks ago, I noticed the crown on the Tag didn't grab the threads until it was very close to the case and after it did, it only turned about 1/4-1/2 a turn before it tightened. The crown seemed to be screwed down when I got it. It was tight and did not turn. The clocks went back last week (end of.

The threads seem to have worn away or cross threaded to the point it no longer screws down. I read up online and apparently this is common with retail ones, with no longer term solution as it does reoccur once fixed. As you press the crown in to screw it down, the stem prevents part A from pressing in, so the spring compresses. Depending on the exact design that msybir may not disengage the squares, allowing you to turn the crown without continuing to wind the watch.
