The old crown screwed down completely, but the new one does not (see pics). My WM thought the problem might be the gasket, but even with the gasket removed the crown does not go any further. The gasket sizes depend on the crown size and whether it is a twin lock or a bubble crown. I will order both for the 6mm crown and see how it goes.
